It is advisable to book a storage unit as far in advance as possible, as there may not always be one available when you need it, as journalist Paul McNeive discovered.
In a recent article for his column in Independent.ie, Paul outlined the shortage of self-storage facilities in Dublin. He was unaware there would be a problem until he found himself in a position where he required a temporary storage unit.
In his article, Paul wrote "a pending family home move saw me seeking a self-storage unit recently, only to discover that the facilities nearest to me, in north Wicklow and south Dublin, were both full, and the next nearest had very limited availability."
